Potentiometer (POT), informally a potential sensor, is a three-terminal resistor with a sliding or rotating contact that forms an adjustable voltage divider. If only two terminals are used, one end and the wiper, it acts as a variable resistor or rheostat. Tenet’s Potentiometer breakout is an analog sensor which can be easily interfaced with any microcontrollers.
A potentiometer is a simple knob that provides a variable resistance, which we can read into the Arduino board as an analog value.
